In order to become fluent we need to understand the language of Information Technology such as any other language in order to communicate and understand each other. I.T practitioners who create jargons are infamous for acronyms used every day like unusual words such as (WIMP) 'Windows', 'Icons', 'Menus' and 'Pointers'.

I.T implements many terms as it's always filled with innovative ideas, concepts and devices that are being developed every day. The inventors name them so they could explain these ideas to others. Acronyms are common as they often abbreviate from initial letters.

By understanding terminology is the basis to learning any subject; when we learn new vocabulary we understand the ideas and concepts behind it. Our brain is organised enough that when we learn something new we might not take notice of it. As we come across it again by knowing the definition, it increases our understanding of the word which becomes a part of our vocabulary therefore, making it easier to communicate and understand each other.

When we seek help in I.T, using the right jargon is important as we regularly rely on telephone, email and other facilities. By being precise and fluent it is much easier for the technician to understand our problems and be able to deal with it quickly.

The purpose of this website is to develop your understanding in 'Terms of Endearment' and to become confident and skilled by understanding the basic hardware and software terms, the ability to think more analytically and the importance of knowing the right word.
