Notes for Poster Presentations
Poster sessions are popular, and give new ideas to both the presenters and other participants. They are informal sessions in which presenters stand next to their poster display and discuss it with other participants.
There will be many participants who want to understand your work, so please try and make it easy for them. Use large fonts, and clear pictures. Make sure that your main ideas are understandable and interesting even for a participant standing at a distance of approximately two metres.
As ordinary font sizes and text covering several A4-size pages are not suitable for a poster presentation, we suggest the following:
- Heading/Title: 2.5 cm in height (72 pt)
- Name(s) and Affiliation(s) of authors: 2 cm in height (48 pt)
- Body Text: 1 cm in height (28 pt)
You should aim for your presentation to contain no more than 300 words; otherwise people will have to stand close to the board for long periods and block access for others. Please remember that this is an international conference and words such as lab, class, course, etc. may mean different things to different audiences.
For "talking posters" and posters where ideas are to be solicited from conference participants the minimum display requirement is a heading and author information plus at least one paragraph explaining the purpose of the poster.
Of course, there will be some people who are very interested in your work, and will want more detail than can be covered in a poster. We suggest that you bring up to 50 copies of a more extended treatment of the subject to hand out to interested delegates.
