Accommodation
You can make your own arrangements for accommodation, but we offer bed and breakfast en-suite single (£47.25 / night) and double (£75 / night) rooms on the university campus in Keynes College, which is just 10 minutes from the School of Computing where the symposia are held.
At the same time when you register for PPDP and/or LOPSTR you can also book your room at the university.>
If you want to stay in university accommodation also several days before or after the symposia, you can alternatively book this accommodation separately through this website.
Check in
The reception of Keynes College is open until 10pm. If you arrive later, then please use one of the two phones installed next to the reception to call the number given there. Somebody will come and check you in.
Check out and luggage
On the last day you have to checkout until 10am. However, you can leave luggage at the reception to pick up later.
Facilities
On campus is a small supermarket, called Essentials, currently open until 10pm.
We advise having dinner in town. The university's catering places have limited opening times (dinner on Sunday at Rutherford) and hence the Gulbenkian Cafe is the only place where you could have dinner on campus during the week.
Internet connection
The University provides wireless Internet access across most of the campus. If you take accommodation on campus, then access to this will be included and you obtain your password when you check in. Also if your university participates in eduroam, then you can use it.
If you need WiFi but have neither eduroam nor take accommodation on campus, then please contact us beforehand via email to sort out a solution.
Electricity
Please note that UK plugs are large and have three, substantial, flat prongs. They are unlike plugs used anywhere else in Europe. If you are travelling from outside the UK you will require a travel adapter for charging laptops etc. If you forget your adapter it is possible to purchase one on campus.
Note that electric power in the UK runs at 240V rather than 110V. This should be fine for laptops for example as their power supplies can usually accept either voltage, but for other appliances such as hairdryers etc. you should check that they will run at 240V.
