... my father was Thomas David Barber, son of
Walter Thomas Barber. I found your paper on Walter Thomas Barber on
the internet. My father was born in 1930, in Roulairs, Belgium, has
an older brother Ron and had a younger sister Francine. My father
passed away in January, 1993 at the age of 63. Both my father and
grandfather were engineers and I have a copy of what I believe to be
my grandfathers book Civil Engineering Design (4th edition). After
reading your paper, I am not sure if the Walter Thomas Barber you are
referring to is my grandfather or my great grandfather. My father
spoke of his father passing away when he was 8 years old (1938) and
told me that he was quite elderly. There is a complete set of other
and half Barber's living in Kent, England. One was my Uncle Gerald,
who was a Vicar, and my Aunt Dorothy in Cornwall. There last name was
Barber and they were my grandfather's other family...apparently he was
married to two separate ladies at the same time when he died. As a
young boy, I recall my father saying in the early 70's that if his dad
had lived, he would have been 100 years old. This leads me to
believe, that my grandfather was the Jr. of Walter Thomas and not the
author of these books.
