Disciplinary Commons: fifth homework

There are two distinct sets of things to do this month:

We're starting peer-review of each others' emergent portfolios. There is an allocation of review pairs on the password-protected portion of the webpage and a set of instructions. Make sure you do your review before you come to the Commons in March, as we shall be dedicating time for individual discussion and feedback.
We'll also be looking at evaluation
This is a bit of a messy category, as it includes several different kinds things as well as some things that have several aspects. So under "evaluation" we include, for example; end-of-course review (did it work for you), exams and grading (did it work for them), longitudinal evaluation - that is, was the course the same this year as before (did it work for the institution). There may be other things you want to include here, too.

So, for sure, you'll want to bring:
- description of feedback mechanisms you use - surveys, questionnaires, anonymous questions - and an example of the information you get from them.
- grading (i.e. giving marks for student work). Which pieces of work, why, how? And some examples of the information you/they get.
- whatever your QA requires of you - what statistics, what review, how often? And examples of the information this generates.
The only thing we will not directly address in this session (although I'm sure it'll get a mention) is peer observation. That we'll deal with next time.
