For February, we're going to be thinking about assessment. Or perhaps we should more properly say “assignments”. Or maybe not even that, but “How you find out what they're learning”.
So this includes all material you set them to work on (for marks or not, to be worked on in formal sessions or not) but it doesn’t include the grading element—what you mark, how you mark, how you judge quality etc.
In preparation: please put together one slide (oh, alright, it might go onto two) entitled The top five things I believe to be important in database assessment. If you could send that to Rich & Sally in advance, that would be especially useful; if not, make sure you have it for the 26th.
