Long Range and Short Range
In stochastic processes, the coupling between values at different times decrease rapidly as the time difference increases.
- Characterized by their auto-correlation function
- The decay near zero is exponential
- The area under it is finite
In long range processes there is much stronger coupling
- The decay of the auto-correlation function is hyperbolic
- The area under it is infinite.
