Master’s student Deepak Selvaraj has been awarded a best employee prize of £500 in recognition of his excellent work on his industrial placement.
Future Computing MSc student Deepak is currently working for communications infrastructure company Arqiva on a 12 month placement, having completed the first year of his Master's programme at the Canterbury Campus. He was recently asked to work on a project, for a leading client, to a very tight deadline.
Deepak explained: "I worked long hours including late nights and weekends but I made sure we didn’t compromise the quality of the service that was delivered despite the challenging timescale. After four weeks of hard work when the project was made live, the client was very impressed and increased their contract with Arqiva from six months to one year."
This senior management team recognised Deepak's dedication by awarding him with the title of best employee, a certificate and £500.
All undergraduate and taught postgraduate students in the School of Computing have the option of undertaking a paid industrial placement as part of their degree programme. Deepak said: "I would like to thank our placement team, Sian and Katie, for all their support and motivation for helping me to find a placement in one of the best WiFi service providers in UK."
After graduation, Deepak has been offered employment with Arqiva WiFi for the next three years. Arqiva is a leading communications infrastructure and media services company that provides much of the infrastructure behind television, radio, satellite and wireless communications in the UK, including the recent switch over from analogue to digital TV broadcasting.
