School of Computing to host FIRST LEGO League Challenge Canterbury Regional Tournament
30 November 2021
The School of Computing at the University of Kent will host the FIRST LEGO League Challenge Canterbury Regional Tournament on Wednesday 8 December 2021, in collaboration with The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
The global STEM challenge for 9-16 year olds aims to inspire youth and grow their critical thinking, coding, and design skills through hands-on STEM learning and robotics. The LEGO League sees teams of young people competing against each other, to encourage an interest in real-world themes and develop key skills that are crucial for their future careers.
In this regional tournament, 6 teams from local Primary and Secondary schools will compete in four challenges, which they have developed with programmed robots while at school. The four challenges are: Innovation Project, Core Values, Robot Design and Robot Game.
The overall winning team will be offered a place in the England and Wales National Final, taking place in February 2022.
