chin (CHange publication visibility for an INdividual)

chin is used to determine whether a publication appears in an individual's list of publications. It does so by altering the index_status for that publication and individual.

Usage

chin publication_id (default|always|never)

Example:

chin 123 always
Sets index_status to always for the publication with id 123.

Detail

The publication repository keeps a record of all publications that an individual has written. This information is used by bipi when it creates an index of an individual's publications.

One field of this record is the publication's "index_status". This tells bipi whether to include this publication when it creates an index of publications.

The possible values to which index_status can be set are:

default
As long as the publication falls within the dates specified as arguments to bipi, it will be included in the index of publications.

always
The publication will always be included in the index of publications, no matter what the the dates specified as arguments to bipi are.
Useful for including seminal papers.

never
The publication will never be included in the index of publications, no matter what the the dates specified as arguments to bipi are.
Useful for weeding out publications you'd rather not include in your personal list of publications. Note that publications with an index_status of never will still appear in the relevant yearly publication index (and also the relevant research group indexes, unless you use chrg).
