HCI Knowledge Area (pdf)
A little explanation may be needed. For the 2013 curriculum:
- "Hour" means a "lecture-hour" together with whatever is associated with a "lecture-hour" in any given context. This unit was chosen because it is otherwise impossible to compare offerings across environments: "class" "course", "module", "paper" etc. being parochial terms.
- Each learning outcome is associated with a level of mastery: knowledge, application or evaluation.
- The hours allocated to each Knowledge Area are designated Core Tier-One, Core Tier-Two or Elective.
- Core Tier-One is regarded as essential for anyone graduating with a CS degree.
- Core Tier-Two is "strongly recommended" and most CS programmes should cover 80-90%, but may not be present for everyone.
- Elective depends on the flavour of the programme in question.
