Final Details of the Goldstein Paris to Canterbury Cycle Ride
via the Avenue Verte to Dieppe and
via National Cycle Route 2 from Newhaven to Canterbury
Everyone will receive a free copy of `Avenue Verte, London to Paris by Bike`, the booklet by Sustrans. This contains details of the (various) cycle route(s) from Paris to Dieppe, along with sights to see along the way.
Tuesday 1st September 2015. We leave Canterbury in the morning to travel by coach to Paris. We will drop our luggage at the hotel: Appart'city Versailles Le Port-Marly, 3 Avenue Simon Vouet, Le Port-Marly, 78560, France, which is situated on the banks of the River Seine and the Avenue Verte route, approx. 20 km from the city centre although its 35km (22 miles) ( via Avenue Verte). In the afternoon we will cycle into Paris, then in the evening have a celebration meal on the Paris Campus, before cycling back to our hotel.
Wednesday 2nd September 2015. We will ride from Le Port-Marly to Gisors, mostly on traffic free cycle routes of the Avenue Verte. This route is 84km, (52 miles) which you can see here (although a more direct route is only 60km). Gisors is a small village so we have had to split our accommodation across three hotels, one in the centre, and two a few kilometers away (the fittest cyclists will be allocated the hotels that are furthest away).
Thursday 3rd September 2015. We will ride from Gisors to our hotel in Dieppe, where will all be staying at the Brit Hotel Dieppe, 3 rue Jacques Monod, Dieppe, 76200, France. This is the longest day`s ride at 103 to 113 km (65-70 miles).
Friday 4th September 2015. You can have a lie in this morning. After yesterday you deserve it. The ferry to Newhaven leaves at 12.30pm and arrives at 15.30pm. We then have a relatively easy 32 mile ride on National Cycle Route 2 from Newhaven to Hastings, where we stay the night in the Millifont Guest House, 8/9 Cambridge Gardens, Hastings.
Saturday 5th September 2015. The final day! We will cycle on National Cycle Route 2 all the way to the University, approx. 55 miles, although there is a slightly shorter way on route 18 that is 48 miles. These routes can be seen here.
